Top Dangerous High Paid Jobs

If you've been interested in looking for new challenges in your job or a brand new career altogether, you probably haven't considered any of the following positions.... with good reason, too! The pay might be good, but a high wage is of little use if you're not around to reap the benefits.

#1. King Crab Fishing
Ever wondered why crab is so expensive? Men and women risk their lives to get those delicious crabs to your dinner plates, heading out on the high seas facing a long list of dangers. If you come back alive (around 24,000 people die every year), then it's definitely worth it as it pays an astonishing $868k pa  - thats £540k!

#2. Aeronautics & Space Administration
5% of people launched into space have died in the process. Exploring space is risky business, but even some of the ground crew have succumbed to fatal accidents. You can expected to be paid somewhere around $100k (£81k) for these positions, but not many would want to be left floating around in space for years on end.

#3. Crocodile Wrangler
You all remember Steve Irwin (RIP), don't you? Famous for risking his life to not only entertain, but to teach the public about our dangerous wildlife, Irwin was well known for getting up close and personal with some pretty terrifying crocs. In order to study these creatures, crocodile wranglers have to physically pin them to the ground, leaving them wide-open for a vicious attack. So, how much do they get paid? Around $100k (£62k)

Still considering a change of career? These top dangerous jobs might sound pretty interesting in fact, but they take a great deal of dedication and hardwork to succeed in. Putting your life at risk for your trade isn't always worth it. Most of us prefer to get by in a nice, safe environment where we won't be risking our lives every day...

A Little More About Payday Loans

You may have been hearing quite a lot about 'payday loans' just lately. It seems like everyone is out to get a slice of the action, but how do you know which companies you can trust to genuinely help you out and not rip you off.

First and foremost, a payday loan is simply a loan you take out to cover sudden expenses that you might struggle to afford before you get paid. As soon as your wages come through, you pay off the loan. Payday loans also come under the name 'cash advance', but this is exactly the same thing.

A payday loan is known as a 'short-term loan'. Payday loans tend to range between £100 - £400, but you can borrow more if necessary, at the discretion of the loan company. Most Payday loans tend to have very high APR, but this is purely based on the type of loan it is - short term lending tends to have higher interest rates, but as payday loans don't last for long, the interest accrued isn't high at all.

As with all lending, you need to know that you can trust the company you are lending from. Family run Uncles the Original Pawnbrokers are always helpful, friendly and willing to help anyone out in a pinch. We all suffer the shortfall from time-to-time, so a little additional cash to cover a few expenses here and there is a big help!

Specialising in short-term lending, Uncles can lend against a variety of valuable items from jewellery to watches, antiques to artwork. Either come on down to one of our shops, or apply online. You can get a payday loan in 24 hours and you don't have to worry about confidentiality and security!

King George VI's Lanchester Limousine is one of our most exciting pawn items to date. Unclesmoney is now undertaking a full restoration of the vehicle to bring it back to its original condition.

King George VI was very fond of driving and often drove himself from place to place instead of relying on a driver. The interior of the car has soft, cloth seating specially fitted so the king could drive around in comfort.

A customer of a Birmingham based company, King George VI bought 32HP Straight-8 Limousine in 1939 and was in the Royal Service of the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth II for two years before being released.

We'll keep you all posted regarding the restoration process! In the meantime, if it's short term, low interest loans you're looking for, head on over to Unclesmoney to apply online!

Houseselling Checklist

Selling your house is notorious for being one of the most stressful periods of your life next to getting divorced. When there are so many things to consider, it doesn't come as a surprise, so we've provided a handy list to help you out during this time and maybe take a little bit of that stress off your shoulders.

Things you need to consider when selling your house:

1. Estate Agent vs Selling Your Property Yourself.
The benefits of using an Estate Agent are quite clear. They do a lot of the legwork on your behalf (taking the photos, liaising with potential buyers and organising viewings, advertising your house etc) and they know exactly where is best to advertise your property (or at least, they should). On the other hand, Estate Agents will not necessarily provide you with an accurate valuation of your property. What they will do is provide you with an estimate based on the price of similar properties in the area, so it's worthwhile getting more than one independent valuation.

The estate agent will also take a slice of the profit, plus VAT - in other words, a commission. Make sure you find out their charges beforehand. It's important to find the right estate agent for you, so going by recommendation is a good idea. You can also check out the reputation of an estate agent online.

You can, however, sometimes save money by selling the property yourself. Website like HouseWeb allow you to do this without the hassle of using an estate agent.

2. Keep It Tidy
If you went view someone's house and it was a tip, it would put you off straight away. You would assume it wasn't well looked after, possibly damaged with a fair few hidden problems. That's exactly what someone might say if they see your house in disarray. It doesn't need to be spotless; in fact, looking lived in is acceptable. Just make sure all the dirty dishes are away, the beds are made, the floors are clear etc. Make your home is welcoming by having flowers around, open windows if it's warm, the heating on if it's cold. Little things make all the difference.

You also need to make sure the exterior of your house is in good condition, whether this means doing a bit of repainting, sanding down windowsills, cleaning windows, tidying the front garden etc. This is the first thing your potential buyer will see and it needs to attract them instantly.

3. Boot It!
If you've got a load of clutter that you just want rid of, don't just dump it at the tip or in the skip. There is money to be made selling off your bits and pieces at car boot sales or even on eBay. You'll be surprised by how much people are willing to pay - one man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say!

4. Packing
Get started early and be organised. Label your boxes as you pack things away. That way, when you move into your new home, when you're dying for a cup of tea you will know precisely which box is hiding the crockery!

5. Bills
Get them all tied up and dealt with before you leave your property otherwise you may end up paying for things you haven't been using!

6. The Move
Have a specific date set. Try to avoid Fridays, weekends and bank holidays as they are the most expensive in terms of movers fees. If you arrange to move during the week, not only will the roads be quieter, but hiring the removal vans will cost you significantly less. Get a few quotes before deciding on a company. Also, make sure you insure your possessions for the trip!

7. Solicitors
It's important you consult a solicitor when deciding to sell your home. Doing so will ensure you have any of the necessary documentation well in advance and will help keep you organised and prepared.

BSkyB Profits Fall 15%

Rupert Murdoch has been under a great deal of scrutiny just lately and things are only getting worse. BSkyB today repoted that annual profits have fallen by 15%, despite a 23% rise in operating profits, lifting them to £1.07 billion. Unfortunately, the shadow this has cast has led to News Corp pulling out of plans to buy the 61% of BSkyB it does not currently own. Value of shares for shareholders has also fallen.

Find out more about the future of BSkyB here.
